Who is Taylor Ryan?
Dan (her husband)
Taylor Ryan is from Charleston, South Carolina and has one of the deepest passions for fitness of any woman. She also loves teaching and coaching other women, like you, to get healthy lean bodies and live fitness lifestyles. The Earlier YearsShe is 27 years old, but has gone through a lot in her career so far. Once being approximately 32 pounds overweight, she quickly became depressed. She was always an athlete growing up but two years into college she was eating way too much food. (A common problem shared by millions of woman all over the world.) After hearing some harsh words from her own family about how overweight she was, she went a little crazy. She wanted to lose weight and before you could count to ten... she was in the gym running on the treadmill twice a day, everyday. I wish I had known then what I know nowShe didn't know any better at the time. The trainers at the gym were unfortunately clueless and told her to keep running. While she lost some weight, little did she know she was also losing muscle mass. This lead to what is called skinny-fat. Skinny-fat is when you appear fairly thin, or at least smaller, and your weight is considered normal but your body mainly consists of body fat. This happens when you don't support your lean muscle and your metabolism tanks. It makes it easier to back on fat and become large again. Finding A New PassionHowever, Taylor because dating Dan (that's me!). I have been into fitness for the greater part of my life and challenged Taylor to try weight training. Like many women it was intimidating at first because of the myth that you'll get large like a man. But seriously, Taylor very quickly began to burn fat and put healthy, lean muscle on her body again... which woke up her metabolism to start working at full gear again.
That set her off on fitness. She became obsessed with program design, nutrition, and fitness in general. She read every book and after graduating, she quickly got her National Academy of Sports Medicine personal training certification. This is one of the most respected certifications in the industry. A New Women's Community Is BornHowever having knowledge from books and testing on your own body is one thing... she had to begin getting into the trenches with real women. That is when she created her own boot camp in Charleston which she continues to run and grow. Her sixth location will be opening up this Spring. This website was also started around the same time. Taylor noticed that most women were not told how to properly workout. The main piece of advice was to run on the treadmill.. because weights make you big and bulky. This advice is crazy to women and it inspired Taylor to grow her business and try to help as many woman as possible. That is why The Art of Weight Lifting Fit Club was created. Taylor also wanted to it be a community where women can talk and motivated each other. Plus she can keep coaching woman through the site and make a positive impact. Since Taylor has become a personal trainer, she has continued to test with her own body and discover what most people never know about nutrition and fitness. Because of her love of healthy cooking and nutrition Taylor is also a Certified Nutrition Consultant, able to help women with not just their workouts but the lifestyle they lead outside of the gym.
