Short Intense Workouts By Far Surpass Long Workouts
Taylor Ryan

I've been a fan of interval circuits for quite sometime, and if you've ever looked into the cardio workouts here at the Art of Weight Lifting then you know that... you're not going to find any 45 minute steady state workouts here! But I love it when more and more research keeps popping up to support my case. The latest was a British study that proved that training at high intensities for just minutes a week produced the same results as if you were training more slowly (steady state) for 2-3 hours per week.
And that' s not the only plus that came out of the project, the subjects enjoyed the shorter, harder workouts more and were more likely to actually do them. That's because it's too easy for women to make the excuse that they don't have time to workout... And sure if you're trying to workout for an hour or longer then it can be difficult (some times) but if the workout is only 20 minutes long, then what excuse do you have now? None, and that's what I love! When ever I want a quick workout on my off days or something unexpected pops up you better believe I turn to my interval workouts. I'm sweating, and I feel great but I am moving on with the day. Want to give intervals a try? I really enjoy 45 seconds of intense, all out exercise followed by 15 seconds of rest. Jump roping is my favorite. Try doing just 6 rounds and see what you think. But you can do any exercise you want. Sometimes I choose 4-moves and do a mini circuit with the time interval above. It works, and it works great. Need more help still? 2 hours of intervals over the course of 2-weeks is equal to 10-hours of steady state cardio. Which sounds best for you?
