Natural Ways To Spice Up Your Metabolism
Taylor Ryan
I am sure you've heard that foods like green tea and spicy peppers can work to increase your metabolism and it's true, they can. Though not very significantly, but every little bit helps. I am not one to ever turn to fat burners (been there when I was young, never doing it again) so when I find supportive research showing how natural foods we have in our house already can improve our calorie burn I will jump all over it. Believe it or not there are a few spices that can actually increase your metabolism by as much as 30%. This is quite a significant amount... and the boost can last for hours. I think it's amazing to think how the body reacts to certain foods we put in. Too bad cookies don't increase my metabolism. The Spices That Add Flavor To Your MetabolismThere are 4 spices I want to talk about that can help burn off more body fat when paired with your workout plans and clean eating lifestyle. Ginger: I absolutely love ginger. I love eating the ginger at sushi restaurants and love candied
ginger even more. I have ground ginger as well that I like to add to dressings, pancakes and even cookies. How does it work? It helps the cells in your muscles to use more oxygen and this causes your body to burn more calories (and fat). Mustard: Who doesn't love mustard? It's filled with vitamins, minerals and even fatty acids...
but another perk is that it will raise your internal temperature during digestion. Raise your temperature and that translates into a boost in metabolism. The boost can last for up to 3 hours. But stick to spicy varieties like spicy brown mustard. Tumeric: I am personally not a fan of tumeric but it does have big perks. For one it's an anti-inflammatory, it is good for cholesterol and helps your blood from clotting (much like asprin). On top of
that it increases your body's poduction of bile which helps in digestion AND it has thermogenic properties like mustard to help raise your metabolic rate. Sprinkle it on shrimp, chicken or even use it as a salad topper. Cayenne: I do love cayenne pepper. After all I LOVE Mexican it cayenne is a staple in Mex
cuisine. It's basically the same as tumeric in the affect it has on your body and metabolism. I love adding a dash to my scrambled eggs and sweet potato fries. These are just 4 metabolic boosters. Keep in mind that they will not have the same affect as exercise, but every little bit can help and if you like these spices why not add them to your diet on a more regular basis? Other foods that are proven to help include: grapefruit, almonds, coffee (this makes me happy), jalapenos, and cinnamon (helps metabolize sugar better).
