Bitter Orange... Super Bitterness For Your Body

We all know that the supply of fat burning pills is infinite. Every time you turn around a new one is popping up on the counter that promises faster and more effective results than the one beside it. With more potent ingredients designed to "safely" increase your metabolism and have fat melting off your body.

Really? Just how "safe" are these pills. ?Let's face it, when it comes to regulations on fat burners and other supplements, it's pretty lose and there are a ton of loop holes that companies can get through. For example, when ephedra was banned, supplement companies were in a frenzy to try and find something else to replace it. What they found was synephrine... basically the same exact thing but considered less potent.

Synephrine is the active ingredient in the all natural plant, bitter orange. Look at the back of a supplements and if you see bitter orange, or synephrine then walk away.

Bitter Orange: What Is It? It's an actual citrus tree. Also referred to as Seville orange, sour orange or bigarade orange. They are often used for their essential oils to make perfumes and flavoring.

Is It Safe As A Weight Loss Aide? Research reported in Consumer Reports announced that bitter orange may be associated with light-headedness, fainting, heart palpitations, heart attach, stroke and even death.

What Part Is Used? Not all of the plant is dangerous, the unripened fruit is used in a lot of cuisines, in marinades and even alcoholic drinks. The extract and the peel however is what is used to make the dietary supplements. The U.S. National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has announced that there is little to no evidence that shows bitter orange as being safer than ephedra.

Bitter Orange Outlook I am personally hoping that bitter orange is soon banned as well. With the labeling as being "all natural" it's hard for people to believe an orange can be so harmful.

There has been a case where a healthy young man died of a heart attach which was linked to bitter orange.
