Beating The Intimidation Factor Of Starting To Exercise
Taylor
If you haven't exactly been on top of your fitness game in a while it can feel pretty intimidating to get started again. Especially if in that time you've noticed a few added pounds and you feel your chest beating after you walk up the stairs of your home.

Feeling intimidated at the idea of working out in front of people?

It's natural, and you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. Remember, every gym goer that wasn't an athlete has been there. We've all had to take that first step and do that first workout. It should be no excuse to push it off another day. Pushing it off another day puts getting in shape and running up those stairs easily off one more day. And for what? Like most things in life, the idea of something new is always a lot harder and a lot worst than the actual event. If you're nervous that you're not going to be able to do a workout, just realize that no you may not be the best but you will be able to work at your own level and that makes you awesome. When gauging fitness I always tell my clients not to compare themselves to the ladies around them, you're only at a competition with yourself. And with that, if you start your fitness plan then you can't help but be the winner. Let's break it down a bit so you have the confidence to get your program going. How To Be A Gym Newbie
- You're not going to be the best. Realize that you are a fitness newbie. There is nothing wrong with that but I want you to realize that you're not going to be the strongest or have the most endurance than the others around you.
- Don't compare bodies. If you workout at the same time each workout then you'll likely see the same people working out too. Do not find yourself comparing bodies with the women around you. If you look at them and tell yourself that you can never look like them then you're motivation is going to plummet faster than the Titanic. Remember, track your individual progress only! You'll do so much better!
- Bring a workout plan with you. No matter if it's your first workout or if you've been working out for years always bring a workout plan with you. Knowing what you're suppose to do means you'll have more confidence with your workout and be much more efficient with it. It is never fun to stand around, looking like a lost puppy trying to decide what to do next. But with a plan you'll become a gym pro much faster.
- So what if you're sore. You're likely going to be sore after your first workout, probably after your second workout, and possibly after the third. Don't let that deter your fitness plans. Remember being sore is a reminder that you're working muscles and burning fat. Be excited! But epsom salt and Advil do help.
- Be proud. This is my final piece of advice. Think of all the women who sit around thinking about getting in shape! You're actually taking action to make it happen and that deserves a bit round of applause. Just think you might be a fitness newbie now but with time you'll be the one that is intimidating the newbies!
