Top Ten Reasons To Lift Weights

Weight training deserves the spot light today... it's time to learn the facts that most women never learn and it could be hurting them from trying out weights. Knowing the facts keeps you motivated and excited to workout!

1. Increased Caloric Burn For 48 Hours

Unlike cardio, when you're doing weight training, the weight training isn't done with you. Because of the stress of the workout, your body is in recovery mode for up to 48 hours post workout. During that time your metabolism is super high!

2. Improved Brain Health

Just by working out regularly you are doing something helpful for your brain. Exercise helps to give clarity, helps decrease risk of Alzheimer's disease and helps your concentration. Stop losing your keys each morning by working out!

3. Stress Buster

Get relaxed by getting rid of your pent up frustrations and stresses.

Overall you'll feel more calm, less stressed and see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

4. Reduce Risk Of Osteoporosis

Improve your bones by doing high impact, weight baring exercises (like those found in weight training) to help improve your bone density and cut your risk of osteoporosis by quite a bit.

5. Eat More.

For every pound of lean muscle you add to your frame, your metabolism increases by roughly 50 calories. That means you need to eat more to keep your body healthy (unless you want to lose weight). Who doesn't want a faster metabolism?

6. Sleep More Soundly

If you have a hard time falling asleep at night, try adding strength training. Research shows that your energy will skyrocket during the day but at night, it's time to go to bed and you love it!

7. Get Faster Results

If you've been running or using the elliptical for your workout program for years then you're probably confused as to why you're not getting results. It is because with cardio programs the body adapts very quickly. Weight training on the other hand is easy to change up from time to time (4 weeks) so your body never knows what is going to happen and you continue to see results.

8. Burn Fat and Tone Up At The Same Time

This isn't possible with cardio style workouts. Most cardio workouts end with you actually losing lean, sexy muscle mass and keeping on body fat. On the other hand, with weight training your metabolism is on high for fat burning and you are working your muscles to keep them sexy and toned.

9. Improve Functional Strength

Improve your functional strength. With a good weight training program you strengthen your joints, muscles and overall body so that everyday activities like housework, carrying groceries, yard work, sitting upright and aligned become easier.

10. Increase Muscular Endurance

Running isn't the only way to increase your endurance. All you need is a special fat burning workout which is also a great endurance workout. If you are a fan of running you will notice a difference in your times and running posture just by adding weights to the mix.
