Top Ten Pieces of Home Exercise Equipment
Taylor Ryan

1. Open Space

Ok, this really isn't a piece of equipment. However, you will need to make sure you have enough space to do all the different workouts you are going to be doing. Too many times, women will try to squeeze their workouts into a space that really isn't that big. This can challenge you to use the right form and that can work against you.

If you are like me then you may have to move some furniture around. But do what you need to do to create that space!

2. Floor Mats

Next, you are probably going to need some exercise mats. If you have a carpet to workout on then that will be fine but you might be like a lot of women and either workout in your garage or you have hardwood floors.

This will be vital so you don't slip and cause injury or damage anything else. There really isn't anything special in a mat so you can get one that's pretty inexpensive.

3. Resistance Bands

When it comes to doing workouts in your home, I really love the resistance bands because they are very inexpensive and you can do so much with them. Not to mention that they do something special that nothing else can really do. The more you stretch a band, the more resistance you get so it actually gets harder as you stretch it.

And another thing that bands are great for is their ability for taking the use of momentum out of everything. These really work really well when you are using a stability ball.

4. Stability Ball

This is a must when you want to do all of your working out at home. Stability balls are great and you they can be used as a bench until you actually invest in a bench.

You want to make sure that you have the right size when it comes to a stability ball. You can use the chart below as a guide but what you are shooting for is the ball to be pretty well blown up and your thigh parallel to the floor.

I would suggest you purchase different sizes so you can really round out the use of your stability balls.

5. Dumbbell Set

This will take you some time to build up, but eventually you will want to have a dumbbell set. You can do pretty much everything with a full set of dumbbells.

They are very expensive and you are going to be looking at a dollar per pound. I highly recommend that you go from a set of five pounds all the way up to 55 pounds dumbbells. You may not think you will use that high a weight, but I can pretty much you will and it won't take you that long to get there.

6. Bosu Ball

This is something that I have been messing around with and I really like it. You can do some really great body weight exercises with a bosu ball. So I recommend you get one of these too.

They are great because they through your body out of balance and force you to work those small muscles that most of the time never really get worked much.

7. Jump Rope

This is really necessary and it's one of the best pieces of equipment. With a jump rope, you can get a great cardiovascular workout, but at the same time, you can build some serious lean muscle mass.

With jumping rope, you can also work to build up your speed. Muscular speed is how fast your muscles react when you need them. It's important to work on speeding this up and jumping rope is a great way to do this.

8. Workout Plans

Did you really think I was going to leave out the fact that all of this equipment means nothing if you don't have good workout programs. This is vital because even body weight exercises can work wonders if you have the right exercise routines.

Now it's time for me to shamelessly promote our membership. As a member, you get full access to tons of different workout and all the support you need to really win the fitness game. It's incredibly affordable too... so join up today!

9. Tracking Capability

If you become a member of The Art of Weight Lifting, you will get access to tracking... but you need to really track all of your workouts and you need to track your nutrition programs too.

This is one of the key to successes and when you build up a few months worth of material, you will really enjoy looking back over where you have come from.

10. Music

Finally, you are going to need music. I really don't like to watch TV or something like that because it's proven that watching TV while you workout ruins your ability to put the effort in that's required for consistent results.

That is why I really like listening to music when I workout. This will help you rock out and get a great workout in. Listen to what pushes you and what makes you happy!
