2. Will weight lifting cause me to bulk up and look like a man?No. There are several factors when it comes to women's weight training that will have you looking better than ever and not resembling a she-man. First off, women lack the amount of the muscle building hormone testosterone that man have. Additionally men naturally have larger "bulkier" skeletons than women and training can't change your skeletal shape. Also, your estrogen levels promote fat storage and muscle breakdown, this is why women have breasts and hips and it helps to keep your body from putting on tons of muscle. Not to mention that it takes a lot of calories to add muscle, so if you're eating enough to promote muscle building then it won't happen. Out of all the women in the world, only 10% find it easy to add muscle mass. But that's still ok if you're one of them. The great thing with weight training is that a program can be designed to fit your body, goals and lifestyle. If you don't want to get muscles then do a fat burning, endurance workout! 3. I always thought that doing cardio is the best way to lose fat, is this true?
No. cardio definitely has it's place in a balanced fitness program but it's just one piece of the puzzle and really just a supporting role. The main role is weight training. Cardio is great for your cardiovascular health (I know... common sense) when it comes to heart and lung health. But in the fat loss health arena, not so great. As a matter of fact doing cardio can lead to several issues. First off, muscle is a huge metabolic booster. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. To keep you going for a long period of time on the treadmill your body turns to it's fat reserves for a good energy source.... and if you lose muscle you slow your metabolism down. And obviously that makes it harder to lose fat. it's not about losing weight, it is fat you want to say farewell to. Weight training on the other hand.. promotes muscle building, increases your metabolism during your workout and up to 48 hours afterward, it's easier to keep progressing so your body never adapts, and it's less time consuming! The benefits of weight training are endless! 4. How much fat can I lose with The Art Of Weight Lifting?
Lots. If fat loss is your mission simply sign up for the fat burning workouts. These workouts if followed as recommended will have you losing pounds of body fat while at the same time toning and tightening your body. For a number amount... it's safe to say that combined with a clean eating diet you can lose 1-2 pounds of body fat per week. And since is program is designed for 12 weeks that's roughly 20 pounds of fat you can lose! 5. Why are the programs set for 12 weeks? To keep your body giving results. You don't want your body to get used to any workout other wise your results will slow down or stop. That's why every month you get a completely new workout and then after 12 weeks I recommend you changing up your goal all together.
