Dear Fitness Friend,

It's still the beginning of the year and many people (perhaps still you) are trying to reshape their bodies. All year long weight loss, fitness, and health will be a big topic. And all throughout the year there will be lies spread as to what really works.

That's what led Taylor and I to confront Michael Geary about his ebook… The Truth About Six Pack Abs. Michael has had some great longevity with this book.

It's been a top seller for years now.

However, we are going to give it the in-depth review that it needs and reveal the truth behind the curtain as to whether the methods in this book actually work.

What Does It Do?

It's actually a little deceptive as to what this ebook is all about. Sure the cover says The Truth About Six Pack Abs, but once you really dive in… it's not all about ab exercises.

Which is actually a breathe of fresh air!

Since Michael is a talented personal trainer, he covers a lot more than just ab exercises because getting a great looking stomach is a lot more than just ab exercises. But... we'll get into the details of the book in just a minute.

But don't expect any cheesy or incredibly fast "secrets" to getting a six pack or losing weight. Michael tells it like it really is… the fact that it takes work to see results.

It's not always like the Oprah show or those infomercials. You can't just do 2 minutes worth of crunches or drink some magic berry juice and look ripped.

Bottom line: It lays out a systematized plan to get you started the right way with your training. And as Taylor and I are personal trainers too… we have to say that the training advice is spot on.

Great for both men and women. Let's continue and find out…

First Impressions

As you would guess the main book and all of the bonuses are immediately downloadable.

Personally we love ebooks because you can get to them right away and they are a heck of a lot easier to store. (You should see our bookcases... there're overflowing.)

However, at first we were a little worried. We saw the title and began to think… "Not another cheesy book on abs." We thought it was going to be like all those scamy books that make up terminology to make you think you are doing something proven.

Or the ones that just regurgitate the same old info and exercises the magazines cover each and every month.

However after reading only the first 10 or so pages we knew this book was going to be the real deal.

The only other part that really make us weary was the length. 116 pages may not sound like a lot… but… whenever you get an ebook, you can almost ensure there is going to be a lot of filler pages.

Finally the last thing that we noticed right off the bat - something we were extremely excited to see covered - was the section on diet. Most books and programs always skip the diet section.

However your diet is the number one factor in your body appearance and the way it feels too.

Are you ready to dive into the goods? Great… let's go…

Does It Work?

We're just going to come right out and say it.

Yes it works.

And yes it works the same for both men and women.

The book is broken down into three major sections including:

Physiological information and performance basics to ensure you understand your body and can understand the fundamentals for proper training. This all to leads you on your path to a leaner, more toned (muscular) you.

What's more… you will even learn to understand metabolism and the best way to keep your body burning fat on days you don't even workout.  It's all there and it is pretty simple to follow which means you didn't have to be a biology wiz to get what Michael is saying.

While these sections are great for the information. It is highly possible you may get a little bored. Maybe it was because we were familiar with most of it, but there were times we just wanted to skip to the parts that told us what to do.

After getting the jargon out of the way and understanding what's in store for you and why… you move to the second phase: the workouts.

First you'll learn which is better: free weights or machines. This is a really important part of the book. Taylor and I see people making this mistake all day long and it has a huge impact on your results.

Next you'll learn how much time you really need to spend working out (for The Truth About Six Pack Abs, its only 40-60 minutes 3 days per week!).

So if you thought that you were going to need to spend 5 days a week in the gym, or maybe you are already, push it aside. You'll learn why total body workouts really work… and… why the bodybuilding method isn't good for you.

Unless you want to be a bodybuilder.

Of course Mike gives you great complete workout plans. This is helpful so that you don't have to stand around trying to decide which exercise to do next… you have it right there and you know the workouts work!

Our impression was they might be a little difficult, but if you just take it easy and watch your form, they were excellent workouts.

Onto the diet section. It really is great and makes up the third phase to your body transformation. Mike explains the importance of good nutrition. You can workout all day long but at the end of the day if you are eating fried foods and cookies then you almost are guaranteed to NOT reach your goal.

Probably one of the best things mentioned (especially for gym and fitness newbies) is the explanation of why fad diets and calorie restriction diets end up hurting you. And the real secrets to a successful program is just putting in the right types of foods: fats, carbs and proteins.

The diet plan that he recommends is pretty easy to follow but it does include some planning. Eating 5-6 small meals per day means putting thought into your lunch box because heading to the vending machine isn't an option.

Plus... Mike includes several balanced meal plans… that makes it easy for you to do the planning and prep time.

Once you get used to eating this way, you will never even dream of going back!

And for science lovers he does go into the ways your body burns fuel that will help give a great understanding of why you should or shouldn't eat certain foods.

If you're not a science lover then this part will again probably put your to sleep… although it is interesting.

As you can see Mike covers all the fundamentals of how to properly train your body. The great majority of his recommendations are actually very much inline with what Taylor and I prescribe to our clients.

So if you commit to a program like this, you will see results. Period.

But not everything I perfect with The Truth About Six Pack Abs. Let's take a look at some of the bad points.

Bad Points

The book while great in advice, does have many lulls filled with some filler content. While the content in these sections does help, if you just want to get a good workout… it'll probably bore you.

There were also not enough images for the exercises. The ones Mike does include are good, but it's also important to show images of what not to do. That can really help make doing the exercises a lot easier… especially if you're just beginning.

Furthermore, when it comes to pictures… there weren't any throughout a lot of the text. Taylor and I think pictures really help not only to learn from but to break the text apart so it's easier to read.

Finally it might be a little tough for a complete newbie. Some of the exercises are definitely advanced.

One last bad point. With all the bonuses and all the different workouts you are getting. You can seriously confuse yourself. It's best to stick to the main book's programs and forget the bonuses initially.

What about the Good Points?

Good Points

The Truth About Six Pack Abs has many great points. While somethings can be tough for the absolute newbie… it does cover everything for the beginner to the advanced.

And trust us… some of the advanced moves are definitely advanced.

Although it's best if you have access to a gym, Mike does cover everything you can do if you don't have that. You may have to purchase a few extras… but this is a great addition.

So again it doesn't matter if you have a gym or not. You can do almost all of the exercises to their full potential.

The programs are built very nicely. They are truly designed to burn body fat and that's what really counts when you want to lose weight. When you burn body fat…

You lose massive inches and tighten your skin up all over your body. You will look and feel great.

And if you think you know all of the best core moves then think again. There are pages and pages of great ones to take to your next workout and of course there are pictures for each.

Everything is explained in detail so you can get an understanding about what you're doing and why.

There is also a great Q & A at the end. This will probably answer many of your questions if you have any.

Very solid fitness book and program. You can't go wrong by getting this book.

Summary and Final Score

While this book could have been better served in the form of videos, it is an excellent addition to your fitness training. It's ten times less expensive than a "real" personal trainer…

But…

Taylor and I have seen the majority of trainers prescribe incorrect exercises. So buying this book would serve you much better than a real personal trainer.

Just make sure you concentrate on form when you're doing the exercises. That is the one place most people mess up and what causes almost all of the injuries.
