Public Articles: Drink 8 Glasses of Water A Day... Wait! Don't Do It!

It is back in the news and on the front lines of nutritional media buffs... the great water debate. It has been since what most of us would consider to be the beginning of time that you should consume 8 glasses of water a day.

The benefits were pretty good from this theory... you feel satiated almost all the time (helps you eat less), it cleanses your body, you burn more calories, and on and on.

Some of these are definitely true. You do burn more calories, especially if you drink cold water. Your body will burn calories warming the water up... anyway back to just one article that you can read about this.

Advice on Water Doesn't Hold Water

I tend to agree with the fact that if you are thirsty then drink water. If you are not thirsty then don't drink water. We get a lot more water from different sources then we may realize.

  • coffee
  • tea
  • food
  • wine
  • almost everything as a little water in it

As a weight lifter and somebody who exerts more energy, you will need a little extra water. Especially during your workout to help replace all of the water you lost. You body will tell you that though, so just listen to what your body says and don't worry about how much water you need to drink.

So when you invited me to give a professional opinion of the site, I was a little skeptical. However, you guys really went above and beyond with this. That way you integrated balance & flexibility training with weight training... is the missing piece in the fitness industry. You did a great job, keep it up." - Jamie Bailey
