Learn the Benefits and Practices of Positive Self Talk

It has been shown that people who are naturally more positive and can picture good things coming their way actually have more positive things happen. It's all a mind set and believe it our not we can all change.

With practice you can learn to get rid of negative weight that pulls you down and adds numbers on your scale and keeps those same numbers from coming down!


  
It's All About Positive Self Talk

Picture this… you are cruising down the road and happen to pull up to a red light where the car next to you has a person talking. You think nothing of it but on second glance you notice that this person is alone and the talking does not seem like signing.

You try not to stare, but you can't help but keep looking back wondering what on earth this person is doing. You even go as far as calling them crazy… you drive off away saying, "Wow that person was nuts." I call your bluff though because whether you like to admit it or not, we all talk to ourselves all day long.

Did you know that what you say to yourself has one of the biggest impact on the path you take through your life?

It really boils down to a confidence thing, but self talk is really important. Perhaps you have never paid any attention to the words you speak to yourself, but tomorrow do me just one favor… listen and make notes about what you say.

Unfortunately I am willing to guess that the majority of the talk is negative. Here are some tips to help curb that trend and if you can keep this up and build a habit of it, then you will see the events in your life falling you way.

5 Tips To Improve Your Self Talk:

  1. Take Note: You will probably get tired of hearing all the different times I end of recommending keeping track of things that you do. I am a very upfront type of person and I will tell you right here an now that I never write down all of my thoughts. I have tried to keep a journal, but this was one things that I could never get into.

    However, I do track many things in my life and I can tell you that tracking anything that you want to improve on is the only way to truly improve.

    By writing your thoughts down each day and really taking notice to what you think, you will be able to eliminate the negative talk that brings you down. That will have a huge effect on your daily life… if you can only think positive thoughts, you personal confidence will skyrocket. Add to that the quest to get a ripped up body and you will literally be unstoppable.

  2. Write Down What You Want: Now this tactic I have personally used and used successfully. You need to get a sheet of paper and write down what you want in first person as if you have already accomplished the task.

    An example would be weight training…

    I have the body of my dreams and I improve on that body every single day. I currently weight train 3 times a day and each time I am really efficient and get my work down fast with maximum efficiency. People can't help but stare at me and most even ask me how I do it.

    On my off days I get great workouts that only last 20 mins and they help me improve greatly. I have fun every single time I workout and it shows in my results. My confidence is sky high and grows more everyday.

    This is just a small example, but this technique is a powerful one. If you read this to yourself every single morning and every single night for 30 days straight, you will be a completely different person.

  3. Do the Turnaround: This is a great technique and one that I do use when I can. I say when I can because the first key to making this tactic work is noticing when you say something negative to yourself.

    That is the hardest part about learning to talk to yourself properly… noticing when you talk to yourself improperly. However, the more you pay attention the better you get at it. So doing the turnaround…

    When you hear yourself say something completely negative, switch it around immediately and say it positively. Example…

    Negative: I just don't see how I am going to get this exercise done fast enough. The Turnaround: I clearly see how to get this exercise done with proper speed and I can do just the way it is being called for.

    Earl Nightingale is the founder of this site and they produce some of the best self development audio programs ever. I will be the first to admit that they are fairly expensive, but I have quite a library going and they help me out so much!

    You can download them to your Ipod and listen to them in the car. When you are jam packed in traffic, listening to these tapes allows you to always be improving and the impact this has on you will show through in every thing you do.

  5. Read Books: This is a no brainer and the benefits of being a reader go far beyond just becoming a better person. You will get new ideas to implement.
